Sam Bugge - 1930

Nekrolog i lokalavisen etter Samuel M Bugges bortgang

Sam M. Bugge, 57 years of age, for 30 years a resident of the village of Bagley, passed away at his home here Tuesday night at 10:30 following an illness which has confined him to his home most of the time during the past twenty months.
In June 11th, 1928, Mr. Bugge suffered a broken leg when an automobile crossed the side walk on the bank corner and pinned him between the building and bumper of the car. The bone in the leg was crushed so badly that it never knit although he underwent operations and consulted specialists in an effort to regain the use of his leg. The injury weakened his system and other ailments set in which resulted in his death.
Mr. Bugge came to Bagley in 1900 and was one of the pioneer citizens of the village. For a time he was engaged in the hardware business, later becoming an employee of the Clearwater State Bank of Bagley and was actively engaged in that capacity until the time of his injury.
Besides his wife, five children survive. They are: Carol, Chester of New York City; Mrs. C.H. Gobel (Myrtle) of Bismarck, North Dakota; Mrs. W.L. Fisher (Alvira) of Fargo, North Dakota; and Miss Leona who is teaching at Walker. Carol, Leona and Alvira were at home at the time of their father\'s death. The former has been with her father during his illness. Three brothers and one sister also survive Mr. Bugge, two brothers living in North Dakota, one brother in Milwaukee and a sister, Mrs. Mayland resides in Great Falls, Montana.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday afternoon at the St. Paul\'s Norwegian Church with Rev. O.I. Rossing officiating and burial will take place in the village cemetery. Business of the village will be discontinued during the hours of 2 to 4 o\'clock Saturday so all may attend the services.
Mr. Bugge commanded the respect of all who knew him and was probably one of the best known men in this county. He always took an active part in civic work, was a member of the Woodman and the Scandinavian lodges at Bagley, an active member of the county fair board and as a result of his efforts to render service to his community he had a very large number of friends. We all realize that a good citizen has been taken from our midst.
The bereaved family have the sympathy of the community in their loss.
